As of December 3rd 2014 the old structure for stamp duty for residential purchases in England, Wales and Northern Ireland was replaced with a progressive scale of charges on all transactions over 125,000 GBP.

The new percentages shown beside apply to the value above each threshold up to the full purchase price.



The rates below are only an indicator, your solicitor or tax consultant can advise you as the actual Stamp Duty Land Tax that is due on completion.

Also the rates do not apply to the Land and Building Transaction Tax (LBTT) which apply to land transactions in Scotland since April 2015. Our Stamp Duty Calculator also assumes that none (or part) of the property is mixed-use which the current SDLT is 4%.
