Whilst the investment lending market is still dominated by banks, for the more complex or unusual transactions it is debt/hedge funds and other alternative lending providers that are supporting the majority of acquisitions or refinances. A number of previously considered alternative asset classes such as student accommodation, apart hotels and PRS are now able to be financed with institutional lenders including pension funds and global investment banks.
